Allen Robinson could go from the Chicago Bears to the Detroit Lions

Fans may not be able to decide between laughing or crying, or both, if Allen Robinson signed with the Detroit Lions. The biggest hurt, here, is to see Robinson go to a division rival. Getting his chance to line up against the Bears twice per year, after they passed on extending him, would be all the motivation Robinson would need.

The fit makes sense, too. The Lions are in a weird spot. They traded Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff and a couple of first-round picks. So, while Goff is their starter for now, the Lions could wind up finding their franchise quarterback in next year’s draft. If they found a quarterback they’re similarly excited about as the Bears are Justin Fields, we may not be laughing at Robinson for signing in Detroit.

Adding Robinson to the Lions’ offense featuring up-and-coming breakout candidates like D’Andre Swift and T.J. Hockenson could give Detroit a pretty potent attack, should they figure out the quarterback position.

Right now, the Lions’ top two wide receivers are Breshad Perriman and Tyrell Williams. Behind those two are some youngsters like Quintez Cephus, and rookies Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sage Surratt. Robinson immediately becomes the unquestioned no. 1 option in 2022, with not all of those guys returning to Detroit.
