The Chicago Blackhawks have seen Calvin de Haan play well for them when healthy.

The Chicago Blackhawks have had Calvin de Haan for a couple of years now. He has been really good for them in his time there when he is healthy. That has been sort of a problem for him which is why he is exposed to Seattle in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. He is a great candidate to go there and help them build up their new team.

Unlike Zadorov, he has one year left on his current contract. He makes a little bit more but he provides leadership and steady play on the ice. If Seattle drafted him, they would know they are getting a defenseman that is hard to play against in his own end and can eat pucks. He plays the game hard which is something Seattle could use from a solid veteran in year one.

de Haan isn’t a superstar in terms of his offensive production or anything like that but he is still very good. If he went to Seattle for their first season, you can expect him to assume a leadership role right off the bat. They are certainly going to have plenty of veterans in the room but his position and how he plays it may make an impact.
