3 players Chicago Cubs could trade and still remain competitive
The Chicago Cubs are not a good baseball team. They are also not a bad baseball team. They are not going to be bottom feeders and they are not going to the playoffs. Their highs have not outweighed their lows so far in 2021 and it doesn’t look like they are going to anytime soon. As a result, they might be pretty active at the Trade Deadline. Unfortunately, the word “seller” is going to be used more than the word “buyer” when it comes to the Cubs.
We all know about the current contract situations for the Chicago Cubs right now. They have so many great players that are just now finishing up their current contracts. It makes you wonder who is going to get resigned and who is going to be traded away. Cubs fans don’t want to hear about anyone being traded away but it is looking more and more like a reality soon.
The 2016 season is starting to reveal itself as a one-off anomaly. The Cubs were dominant that season and avoided blowing game seven of the World Series to end the 108-year drought. At the time, it looked like it was going to be a core that could bring multiple titles to Chicago. Unfortunately, ever since that day that they won the offense has been broken and they have been unable to develop pitching.
The Chicago Cubs might consider moving some guys and still try and win games.
