Chicago Cubs: 3 polarizing Kris Bryant trades with New York Mets

Chicago Cubs, New York Mets trade no. 3 for Kris Bryant
Now, let’s say the price is incredibly steep and the Mets oblige. If they feel confident they can compete in free agency re-sign Bryant to a long-term deal and the asking price was worth it, maybe they part with a package like this.
To begin with, the Mets would fork over their third baseman of the future in Brett Baty, who should be ready to go next year. To be clear, this is not a trade which would make Mets fans happy. Baty is a big part of their future. But, if they believe Bryant is a missing piece to their World Series run in 2021, maybe this is what it takes.
Secondly, the Cubs would get the Mets’ no. 7 overall prospect, outfielder Khalil Lee. The outfielder has actually been active for 11 games for the Mets this year, but has struggled at the plate. He is just 1-for-18 at the plate with 13 strikeouts. Currently, he is in the minors and actually doing much better at the plate. Hopefully that’s a sign of things to come.
Lastly, the Cubs would get the Mets’ no. 10 prospect in lefty Thomas Szapucki. Sadly, Szapucki is having to undergo season-ending surgery after just one Major League appearance for the Mets this year. Still, there is plenty of time and hope for Szapucki’s future once he recovers.
