Chicago Bears wideout Anthony Miller must out-perform his competition

When Anthony Miller enters training camp, he will find himself in instant competition with various wide receivers on the roster. Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney are locked in as the team’s no. 1 and no. 2 wide receivers. The bulk of the wide receiver production is expected to go to both of those two. The Bears need a no. 3 guy to step up. The Bears added two key free agentsin Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd with the thought to add more speed to the group.

They also added Dazz Newsome in the draft who, along with speed, adds shiftiness out of the slot. Third-year man Riley Ridley is also in the mix despite the lack of opportunities in the first two years of his career.

Despite all the added bodies, Miller is still arguably the better talent of the group and the one that presents the higher ceiling. Miller knack for getting open with the combination of quickness and speed, combined with the occasional flash of making the tough catch. His potential is still of that a no. 1 or no. 2 on an offense.

However, guys like Goodwin, Byrd, Newsome and even Ridley could easily push him not only out of that no. 3 spot but off the roster. Draft status alone will not save Miller this year. He has to show to G.M. Ryan Pace, head coach Matt Nagy, his teammates, and fans he was worth the 2nd round investment.
