Chicago Bears: 5 under-the-radar players you should know for training camp

Under-the-radar Chicago Bears in training camp: WR Marquise Goodwin
When the Bears signed Marquise Goodwin this offseason, most of the chatter about him came from when fans read his piece in The Player’s Tribune from earlier in the year, or the photos of he and Justin Fields working out together. But, people may not realize that this guy is not too far removed from being a breakout player in the NFL.
Goodwin was looked at as maybe the no. 1 wide receiver in San Francisco a couple of years ago, just before Deebo Samuel broke out as a rookie. In 2018, Goodwin caught 56 passes for 962 yards and a pair of scores with the 49ers. His average per reception was an eye-popping 17.2 yards.
The Bears brought him in because of a few reasons, but most notable because he adds a dimension of speed that very few receivers can do in this league. He is more than just a guy in training camp, and if he’s healthy after taking 2020 off, Goodwin should not only make this roster but be effective during the regular season.
Camp will be the place fans can see Matt Nagy play with certain sets featuring guys like Goodwin and Darnell Mooney on the field at the same time. The speed he can generate will allow big plays to happen on occasion, but adding Mooney on the field on the same play could make things very interesting. Goodwin should enjoy a nice career resurgence in Chicago.
