Chicago Bears: 5 under-the-radar players you should know for training camp

Under-the-radar Chicago Bears in training camp: CB Tre Roberson
Hot take: the cornerback room is the weakest position on the roster. Jaylon Johnson and Desmond Trufant are starting on the outside, but the Bears don’t have any sure thing behind them. Heck, Johnson and Trufant aren’t even sure things. They need to stay healthy.
Last year, the Bears brought in former CFL cornerback Tre Roberson after he signed the richest CFL-to-NFL contract in history at four years, $4.9 million. Unfortunately, Roberson broke his foot during summer workouts. So, we never got to see what he could do in camp or during the season.
Now healthy, Roberson has his chance to remind people why he signed the contract he did in 2020. The Bears could use a big, positive surprise in camp at the cornerback position, and if anyone is going to give it to them, it’s Roberson.
Originally born in Indiana and having spent three collegiate seasons with the Hoosiers, Roberson transferred and played his last two seasons at Illinois State. So, he’s familiar with Chicago. In those final two college seasons, Roberson came up with a whopping 19 interceptions. He knows how to take the ball away (30 career picks in college).
This summer will be a great time for Roberson to help fans remember who he is and why he signed last year.
