Chicago Blackhawks: 3 Montreal Canadiens free agents to consider
The Chicago Blackhawks could really use the fire that Corey Perry brings to the table.
The Chicago Blackhawks know all about Corey Perry. He spent the first 14 years of his career with the Anaheim Ducks who have had plenty of tremendous battles with the Hawks during that time. Corey Perry has been in the middle of it all because he was such a great player. He spent the last two years with the Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens respectively. In both of those years, he lost the Stanley Cup Final to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Perry is 36 years old and was taken in the same elite 2003 draft as Eric Staal. He is a right-winger that could play in the Blackhawks lineup with ease. He is more of a pest than an elite scorer these days but he brings a lot of leadership to the table these days. He still has something to give to a young team trying to stay above water.
It isn’t like the addition of Perry would make them a playoff team but if they did somehow sneak in, there is no doubt that he would be effective once they started. It would look strange to see him in a Blackhawks jersey after all those years with Anaheim but they are all far enough removed now for them to not consider it.
We don’t know how active the Blackhawks are going to be this summer but if they are active, this Montreal Canadiens team has some players that can help. With their Cinderella run to the Stanley Cup final, there is a lot of veteran experience there to help the Blackhawks young players.
