The Chicago Blackhawks might be able to get Tarasenko for less now that this is out there.

Tarasenko is a 29-year-old winger that has two years left on his deal and there is also injury trouble in recent years. There is also the fact that this news of his trade request is out there which might handcuff the Blues. As a result, whoever acquires him might get him for pennies on the dollar if they play it smart. However, giving up Adam Boqvist, Nikita Zadorov, and a 2021 second-round pick isn’t exactly chump change either.

Boqvist is a former first-round pick that has potential in the NHL. The Hawks are not going to be the team that develops him properly so he should want out as badly as Tarasenko wants out of St. Louis but nobody will admit that. He is an offensive-minded defenseman that isn’t good enough offensively to make up for how terrible he is in his own zone.

Nikita Zadorov is just a bad fit for the Chicago Blackhawks. It was a bad trade before it was made. He doesn’t work in the system that they run and it was obvious that was going to be the case. HE is currently an RFA so the Blues would have to be the ones to extend him if they made a trade like this. The second-round pick might be the most valuable asset in this trade if the Blues were able to use it wisely.
