The Chicago Bears could replace Eddie Goldman with Khyiris Tonga

Lastly, if Goldman does retire, the Bears could choose to go a different route with rookie seventh rounder Khyiris Tonga. Keeping Nichols at the position he is most comfortable at may be a better option overall, and letting the rookie from BYU get thrown into the fire would be worth a shot.

Tonga is bigger, and would be more of a natural fit at nose tackle. He stands 6-foot-4 just like Goldman and weighs an almost identical 321 pounds.

Usually, in the seventh round, you take some chances on guys who could end up being cut in training camp. Fortunately for the Bears, Tonga has a great chance of sticking due to the uncertainty with Goldman. Not only could he stick, but if he has a strong camp, he may have a shot to start.

If not one of these five guys, one more honorable mention is newly-signed Mike Pennel, who came over from the Kansas City Chiefs. He was just signed, but if Pennel plays well in camp, he will also potentially be able to step in for Goldman. It all depends upon whether or not the former Florida State standout chooses to call it a career.
