Chicago Bears: 5 players to potentially replace Eddie Goldman
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears could replace Eddie Goldman with Damon Harrison
Bears fans had long wanted the team to sign Damon Harrison following the 2019 campaign he spent with the Detroit Lions. It all started when Goldman originally opted out. Fans quickly thought of Harrison as the perfect replacement.
Ultimately, Harrison ended up signing with the Seahawks and appeared in seven games with them before being released late in the season. After his release, coach Pete Carroll said that Harrison had “stopped playing.” But, Harrison explained that he actually wanted to allow younger players to still get some reps.
It was a curious situation, because if Harrison was the better player, he should be getting those reps — period. Either way, he signed with the Packers for the remainder of the year and is now unsigned.
Harrison is best known by his nickname “Snacks,” which came from him feasting on opposing offensive lines and completely obliterating their run game. Harrison has been one of the best run-stuffers in the NFL for a long time. Although he may not be at the level he was a few years ago, Harrison wants to continue playing and could really thrive amongst a front seven like Chicago’s.
