The Chicago Cubs should try and get something for Joc Pederson this summer.

The Chicago Cubs made a weird signing when they brought in Joc Pederson during the winter. They let Kyle Schwarber go to the Washington Nationals where he began to mash baseballs again. Pederson is a good player but using him as Schwarber’s replacement didn’t make much sense. Now, they would be smart to let him go so they can get something out of him before it’s too late.

If Joc Pederson came to the Chicago White Sox right now, he would fit right in. They have been interested in Pederson for a few years now but it never came to fruition. Now, getting him from the Cubs to be a platoon outfielder would be really smart as they try to win the American League Central down the stretch. Pederson also has recent World Series experience which could be very valuable for this team right now.

Blake Rutherford and Luis Gonzalez are both outfield prospects that the White Sox could give up for some help this season. Neither of them is a part of the long-term plans but are still good players. If the Cubs wanted to add players like that in exchange for Pederson, they should do it now. They are looking like a team that is about to rebuild so getting as many young players back as possible would be the best move for the organization.
