Chicago Cubs Rumors: 3 splash trades to make with New York Yankees
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Cubs could trade Kyle Hendricks to the New York Yankees
The first thing the Yankees could do to try and make a run at the postseason this year is improve within their starting rotation. The only guy pitching like he belongs, so far, is Gerrit Cole. One could argue Jordan Montgomery has had his moments, but Cole is the only one the Yankees would feel ultra-confident in going into a potential playoff series.
If the Cubs were to entertain selling any of their starting pitchers, the only one who would receive major interest is Kyle Hendricks. Having been with the Cubs his entire career, a change of scenery would definitely be weird for him. But, he would net the Cubs the biggest return if a trade partner wanted pitching.
In this trade, the Yankees would send a pair of pitching prospects back to the Cubs to begin with. Chicago would get their number five prospect Luis Gil and number seven prospect Luis Medina, both right-handers.
Gil was recently moved up to Triple-A after seven excellent starts with Somerset, striking out 50 batters with an ERA of 2.64.
On top of the righties, the Cubs would also get outfielder Estevan Florial, the Yankees’ number 10 overall prospect.
