Chicago Cubs’ starting pitcher trade candidates: Danny Duffy

In the same division as the Tigers and Twins, and amidst the same type of difficult season, the Kansas City Royals will be selling this year. At 33-42, they are 11.0 games out of first place right now and look to have no shot at a redeeming second half.

One of the most realistic names you could see dealt to the Cubs is Royals starter Danny Duffy, who has come back from a forearm strain to toss 0-run ball for two games in a row (3.0 IP total).

On the season, Duffy has an ERA of 1.81 and a WHIP of 1.12. He has been as good as you could possibly as on a bad team. If the Cubs wanted to try and snag Duffy, here’s a potential trade package for the 30-year-old.

In return for Duffy, the Royals would get the Cubs’ no. 14 prospect Cory Abbott and no. 21 prospect Ethan Hearn, along with cash considerations. So long as Duffy continues to progress back from injury, he would be a welcomed addition to this Cubs rotation.
