The Chicago Blackhawks would need to give up a lot to get Jack Eichel.

Jack Eichel is worth an incredible return for the Buffalo Sabres. He truly has the potential to be a top-ten NHL player. Chances are, no matter what team acquires him, Jack Eichel is going to be the best player involved in the trade. When that happens, the team sending away the best player wants to be well compensated. That is why you would think that something like Kirby Dach, a first-round pick in 2021, and Nikita Zadorov might get it done.

Kirby Dach and that 2021 first-round pick are going to be involved in every trade here. Those two assets are almost a guarantee to be involved in a trade like this. Even if it is another team, they are going to need to give up one of their top young players and a first-round pick at the minimum. For the Hawks, this 2021 first-round pick is the 11th overall pick.

Nikita Zadorov actually started his career with the Buffalo Sabres. He played there for two years after Buffalo made him the 16th overall pick of the first round in the 2013 NHL Draft. He then played for the Colorado Avalanche in between Buffalo and Chicago. He is now an RFA so Buffalo would be tasked with extending him. He isn’t a great fit in Chicago so Buffalo might want to add him into a trade as the “third piece”.
