The Chicago Bears recently added three new additions to their squad to fill out the roster heading into training camp. The team signed Tyrone Wheatley Jr., son of former NFL running back and current offensive tackle. Mike Pennel, Super Bowl champion defensive lineman, and Jake Butt, former Broncos tight end.

The three are rounding out different sections of needed areas on the team. Outside of the holes these three fill with their presence, the Bears could still use some free agency work with a cornerback and linebacker.

Wheatley will be joining a crew of offensive linemen that are not set in stone. Outside of Cody Whitehair and newly drafted and signed Tevon Jenkins, anything is up for grabs on the line.

Pennel will join a loaded crew of defensive linemen that starts with Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman and continues with Bilal Nichols and Mario Edwards Jr.

Jake Butt will join a crew highlighted by Jimmy Graham and Cole Kmet with the tight ends.

Nevertheless, the Chicago Bears are always looking to improve the work-in-progress roster they have had to cut and add players to.

Bears training camp will start on July 27, and fans will have the pleasure of attending in person and watching for position battles.

Particularly, quarterback, backup running back, wide receiver, cornerback, and possible linebacker spots are all open for the taking with plenty of talent to fill them.

Take a look at the breakdown for the newly signed players and their chances to see the field next season.
