The Chicago Bulls would benefit from a veteran like Danny Green

Speaking of playoff experience, it doesn’t get much better in terms of current free agents than guard Danny Green. Most famous for doing his damage earlier in his career with the San Antonio Spurs, Green has now played for three teams over the last three seasons.

This past season, he earned over $15 million from the Sixers. Now at age 34, Green is still a capable starting shooting guard in this league but his best days are behind him. He could end up taking on a backup role going forward but on a multi-year deal — similar to Thaddeus Young.

If the Bulls brought him in, he’d back up LaVine but also likely be the first guard off the bench, even before Coby White. Green’s shooting ability is still there, as he’s shot a career 40.1 percent from three-point range. During his career spanning all the way back from 2010, Green has attempted 1,458 three-pointers. He’s been one of the best in the game at this for quite some time.

The other thing Green would bring to the table is his defense. He’s a much better defender than the Bulls’ current guards, and he’s got plenty of experience doing it on the big stage. Green has played in 153 career playoff games, starting 147 of them. Those facts alone speak to what the Bulls would be getting in this guy, who can still play.
