3. Anthony Miller takes full control of the Chicago Bears WR3 job

It has been a rocky start for the career of Anthony Miller, but this summer is setting the table for a late breakout. At one point this offseason, Miller’s name was being brought up in trade rumors. After all, the Bears brought in a bunch of other guys at the position and didn’t necessarily need to keep him around.

Now, Miller’s summer looks a bit more promising after he has stuck around and also seen an injury to sixth-round rookie Dazz Newsome. Some thought Newsome could come in and steal Miller’s slot job, but at this point, all signs point to Miller re-taking it.

Not only could Miller keep his slot job, but he has the opportunity to prove he has matured and is ready for a breakout season in that role. It has taken other receivers a few years to find their footing in the NFL, so Miller’s late breakout wouldn’t come as that big of a surprise.

Miller has always been talented enough to succeed in the NFL, but it’s been a maturity thing for him that’s held him back. Mentally, he’s not as tough as he should be. But, he’s shown off his ability to make wild catches and gain tough yardage after the catch. He’s capable of being a very good player in this league.

This summer, look for Miller to re-introduce us to that physical ability and solidify his job in the slot. He could be one of the more surprising and positive topics during training camp, which would be a welcomed sight for the Bears.
