Chicago Blackhawks: 3 Kirby Dach for Seth Jones trade packages

The Chicago Blackhawks might have to give another defenseman back in this deal.

The Chicago Blackhawks need help on the back end if they truly are trying to compete during the final years of Toews and Kane’s prime. Seth Jones would bring that a lot more than Ian Mitchell. Mitchell is a very good young prospect and has a high ceiling but it will be a while before he reaches his potential. You also can’t confirm that Mitchell will ever be as good as Jones. In fact, it is unlikely. That doesn’t mean that Mitchell is bad, it just means that Jones is on another level of good.

If Kirby Dach and Ian Mitchell were a package for Seth Jones in one trade, that would really help out both teams. Columbus has a lot of players that appear to be gone soon which means a little bit of a retool might be in order for them. This trade would really help out with that looming issue.

Adding Dach and Mitchell would be adding a nice young center and defenseman in place of their departing superstar. The Hawks, for some reason, believe they have a chance when the Central Division goes back to normal in 2021-22 so adding Jones would help them more than Dach and Mitchell in the short term.
