Trade One: Chicago Bears get back a late-round draft pick for Nick Foles

The Chicago Bears GM Ryan Pace loves his late-round draft picks. In fact, his success in the later rounds is probably the reason why the organization has been able to look past some of his early-round gaffes like Mitchell Trubisky, Kevin White, and Adam Shaheen. In this trade, he gets back another late rounder that he can use to either build up the depth or hopefully find another starter the likes of Adrian Amos, Eddie Jackson, Tarik Cohen, and Darnell Mooney.

This would be the cleanest, most efficient trade that I feel would help both teams. The New York Jets get Foles for about four million dollars this year while the Bears would eat the remaining 2.7 million dollars as a dead cap hit. Furthermore, the Bears would also gain a sixth-round pick next year which they could really use as their trade up for Justin Fields cost them a first and fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Additionally, this trade is worth it for the Jets to consider because they need an insurance policy for Zach Wilson. Even if he is ready for week one, they have no insurance plan in the event of an injury. Nick Foles may not be capable of delivering consistently over an entire season, but over short spurts, he has proved to be rather effective, making this trade worth it for New York. Setting aside his playoff run with Philly in 2017, Foles also played them back into the playoffs in 2018, and with the Bears got off to a hot start for a few weeks before inevitably falling off.
