Chicago Bears: 5 available players the Bears could add before camp

The Chicago Bears could sign edge rusher Alex Okafor
One area which fans are eager to see make an impact in 2021 is in the pass rush. For a couple of years now, the Bears have not been as dominant as they should be in this category. A team that boasts the likes of Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks should be far more feared in terms of rushing the quarterback, but since 2018 they have been good, not great.
With Robert Quinn hopefully entering this season healthy and ready to prove he’s still an effective rusher, this unit could be pretty special. Mack has to be out to prove he’s an elite player in this league, despite not finishing with double-digit sacks in the last two seasons. Behind those two, the Bears have second-year pro Travis Gipson and veteran Jeremiah Attaochu.
If they wanted to firmly solidify the position, the Bears could sign Alex Okafor, who spent the past two seasons going to the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, playing in just the most recent one after going down with an injury in 2019.
Last season, Okafor was more of a situational pass rusher and would be the same type of player for the Bears if he were to sign in Chicago. He’s experienced and has been on the field in some big moments. Okafor has totaled 8.0 sacks and 19 quarterback hits in 21 games over the past two seasons for the Chiefs, and that type of experience and production would only further cement Chicago’s pass rush as one to be reckoned with.
