Chicago Bulls: 5 blockbuster trades to consider this offseason
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bulls could pull off a blockbuster trade involving Damian Lillard
A more realistic scenario would be the Portland Trailblazers deciding to part ways with veteran point guard Damian Lillard, whose cryptic social media post may point to some unhappiness in Portland.
The Blazers are coming off their fifth first-round exit in seven years, and they have failed to build a team around Lillard which can stand the test of the postseason. Now, there is actually a likelihood the Blazers trade him and attempt a rebuild. The Bulls could form a big three of their own if they tried to land Lillard in a deal.
This scenario sees the Bulls, first and foremost, executing a sign-and-trade with Lauri Markkanen. Along with Lauri, the Blazers get guards Coby White and Tomas Satoransky as well as forward Al-Farouq Aminu. This is mostly just to help the salaries even out.
But, the Blazers’ biggest haul comes from three first-round picks the Bulls would send them. This move is completely going all-in if you’re the Bulls, who now end up with Lillard, LaVine and Vucevic.
If that threesome cannot compete in the East, the Bulls may not be able to find a better group of players in the near future.
