Target Two: Stanley Johnson, Forward – Toronto Raptors

Stanley Johnson might not be well known around the league but for any Chicago Bulls fans who tuned into the Bulls-Raptors game on May 13th as I did, know that this guy has potential. He was thrust into a starting role against the Chicago Bulls who were still live in the playoff race. He played 43 minutes and dropped 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. He shot five of seven from three-point range, recorded three steals on the defensive end, and almost led a fourth-quarter comeback with zero help from his supporting cast.

On the season, he only averaged 4.4 points per game and played only 16 minutes per game, but he could prove to be an extremely valuable role player for the Chicago Bulls in 2021. He’s 6’6/6’7 and with all the talented wings in the NBA, having another person to take defensive possessions would be invaluable. As it pertains to a contract, Stanley Johnson will not have a very high price tag because of his limited playing experience. The Chicago Bulls should take advantage of this as they seek to bolster their bench, something which will be an attractive commodity for free agents in 2022.

Ultimately, in Stanley Johnson, the Chicago Bulls would be getting another player to develop that could hopefully contribute as a meaningful role player or be used as a trade asset in a potential superstar acquisition next year.
