The Chicago Blackhawks‘ farm system isn’t oozing with young talent but there are some very good players at the top of it. One of those players is Lukas Reichel. The Hawks selected Reichel to an entry-level deal yesterday and that is great news. He is going to come to North America with a chance to make the team and play pro hockey.

Lukas Reichel is officially inked to a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The deal is a three-year entry-level deal that has an average annual value of $925,000. He is going to have a good chance of making an impact within the organization right away. Chicago selected him with the 17th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft so you know they believe in his abilities.

In 2020-21, he played 38 games for Eisbaren Berlin. He scored 10 goals and had 17 assists for 27 points in those 38 games. He also represented Germany on multiple different stages which is really good to see. He has been helping them become a great hockey country. If the Blackhawks are able to help him in his development, he could turn into a very good player.

On Elite Prospects, he is listed as a winger and a center. That always makes an NHL forward more valuable if they can play both at the highest level. Fitting into the Chicago Blackhawks forward group shouldn’t be too difficult for a player like that.

What makes Reichel extra good is his effort. He is well known for being an amazing forechecker and an amazing back checker. He is considered someone that never gives up. With the way that the Chicago Blackhawks are built, a player like that should come in really handy. If he can come into the NHL and provide offense while being reliable in his own end, they will really enjoy having him. He may take a bit to reach the NHL but he should get a look at some point soon.

The Blackhawks are going to continue to get younger and younger as time goes on. That is a good thing for the future of the organization as they try to retool. This kid needs to develop into something good and the team signing him now shows that they have faith in him. Hopefully, he justifies it.

light. Related Story. Could the Blackhawks trade for William Nylander?

It would also be nice to see them keep him if he is a good player and not trade him away for lesser players. With the 11th pick coming in the 2021 NHL Draft, there could be a good crop of young players to be excited about all of the sudden.
