Two top-ten prospects might get the Chicago Cubs a good veteran pitcher like Scherzer.

The Chicago Cubs would all of the sudden have a formidable rotation if they added someone like Scherzer. It is good now but it is missing that ace type of pitcher. They traded Yu Darvish over the winter which was a bad idea but the organization thought it was going to be a retooling year so they dumped his contract. Now that they might buy a pitcher is tough when they could have had Darvish but you can’t change the past.

Scherzer is worth giving away two top ten organizational prospects. He has pitched in 12 games so far this season. He has a remarkable WAR of 1.9 already thanks to his 2.22 ERA, 0.818 WHIP, and 104 strikeouts. He would be well on his way to his fourth Cy Young award if it weren’t for some guy named Jacob deGrom.

Ryan Jensen and Chase Strumpf are the number 8 and 9 prospects that the Cubs have right now. Jensen was the Cubs’ first-round pick in 2019 so you know they are high on the right-handed pitcher. Strumpf was the second-round pick in the very same draft. We don’t know if the Nationals would require a higher-rated prospect than that but these two have a chance to be good players at the MLB level one day.
