The Chicago Cubs would need to give up good players to get Max Scherzer.

The Chicago Cubs have a pretty good far. It isn’t what it was in 2015 in a bad way but it also isn’t what it was in 2019 in a good way. There are some good players there that would entice any Major League team no matter where they are as an organization. The Chicago Cubs might consider dealing some of them to try and make something of 2021.

Ed Howard is probably the player that fans will fall in love with the most. He is currently listed as the number five prospect in the Cubs organization. He is remembered for being a part of that Jackie Robinson Little League team that had a very nice run in the Little League World Series. He was also a part of the Chicago White Sox Amateur City Elite program. He is a local kid that would love playing at home but the Cubs could get a good player for him.

Cory Abbott is currently on their Major League roster but he is still considered a 25-year-old prospect. Going into Monday night, he played in one game so far this season and had 2.0 innings of shutout baseball. He also had his first career strikeout in that one appearance.

The San Diego Padres hit him around a little bit on Monday night but he wasn’t really put in a position to succeed. He is listed as the Cubs’ number 15 prospect so he can be hit or miss in his career. The Nationals would be smart to add players like this if they decide to move Scherzer.
