The Chicago Cubs players have made things difficult on the front office right now. The plan was for them to be sellers throughout the 2021 season as they don’t have a lot of MLB players signed and ready to go for 2022. They have played their way into contention for the National League Central crown which would mean yet another playoff berth.

Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and Javier Baez have been the main part of the core for a long time. All three of them are currently playing on expiring deals.
