The most polarizing Chicago Bears of 2021: Eddie Jackson

The biggest question fans want to know and see answered on the field when it comes to Eddie Jackson is: is he still the same player he was in 2018?

A lot of fans will point to 2020 and tell you Jackson did not play up to snuff. The biggest area we saw Jackson struggle is in his tackling. There were quite a few times Jackson was made to look a fool when attempting to wrap up.

Still, you have to believe that he has some elite play in him. He’s only two years removed from an All Pro season, and a defensive coordinator switch certainly didn’t help his cause to earn those honors again.

Many want to point to Chuck Pagano as a reason why Jackson wasn’t the same guy for the past couple of seasons, and the eternal optimist will agree with that. If we’re being hopeful, new defensive coordinator Sean Desai will allow Jackson to roam free a bit more and make plays on the football.

If Jackson can make a couple more big plays in 2021, he should be able to convince fans he’s still that top-level safety he was in 2018.
