Chicago Cubs: Anthony Rizzo and Willson Contreras have words
The Chicago Cubs have had things going well for them since the end of April. They didn’t get off to a good start to the 2021 season but got back on track in May. Well, they hit the west coast looking to keep things going against some really good teams.
The San Francisco Giants were the first stop and things haven’t been going well as they lost the first game of the series and then followed it up with another loss on Friday. During the game, something happened that made things uncomfortable.
The Chicago Cubs have a lot of good chemistry. The teams see themselves as underdogs based on things that were said about them going into the year. They have a lot of stars on expiring contracts and they are currently all playing very well. This team is poised to make a run at the NL Division title but they have to keep the team intact.
Two players that come to the forefront of the discussion when it comes to the contracts are Anthony Rizzo and Willson Contreras. Rizzo just has the rest of this year on his deal and Contreras just has next year. The Cubs have to decide if they are going to keep these guys or let them go. Well, it wasn’t nice to see these two in a heated argument in the dugout during Friday’s game in San Francisco.

The Chicago Cubs don’t want to see their guys arguing like that in the dugout.
Of course, there is a good chance that this is just an argument in the heat of the moment and it will get resolved. However, it is never a good sight when you see two teammates act like that towards one another. David Ross had to step in between them which is never a good sign either. It should all get worked out but you also have to hope that it doesn’t linger.

The Chicago Cubs need both Anthony Rizzo and Willson Contreras at the top of their games in order to have a chance at all this season. With two more against the San Francisco Giants and a full series with the San Diego Padres coming up soon, things aren’t going to get any easier. The Cubs have a chance to prove a lot of people wrong but they have to get through this next portion of the schedule to do that. Hopefully, whatever that was all about gets resolved quickly. It could also bring them closer together so you just have to hope.
