The Chicago Bulls could go after free agent point guard Derrick Rose

For a couple of seasons now, the Bulls have had a clear need at point guard. New York, meanwhile, had a need there as well. They traded a second rounder to acquire Derrick Rose last year and, in true Rose fashion, he became one of the reasons they made a big run.

Now, Rose and the Knicks face a free agency reality.

After all these years, could the Bulls finally bring Rose home?

He played an important role for New York last year, but it was off the bench. If Rose came back to Chicago, there would be a strong likelihood he could start. Coby White has performed better off the bench, but Tomas Satoransky isn’t a world beater by any means.

The Bulls need a point guard who can both score and facilitate. Rose has proven now, the more he works on his craft, the better he can still become. Instead of once being the athletic finisher, Rose is now the savvy veteran who boasts a lethal floater. He’s changed his game since the injuries, and become better off for it.

Rose also enjoyed the best three-point shooting season of his career (41 percent from deep). He’s truly evolved as a player and the Bulls would be a better team with him playing point. Not only would it be a heartwarming story to see him come back, but Rose really would give the Bulls an ability to push for a playoff spot right away.
