Wednesday night, Chicago Bulls fans watched as some familiar faces were sent packing in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs.

Tom Thibodeau’s New York Knicks were dropped by the Atlanta Hawks in just five games, seeing their magical season come to an early ending.

The Knicks were finally back, thanks to Thibodeau and his defensive-minded coaching style. Thibodeau had an improbable core to work with, but they made it happen. Finishing the season as the Eastern Conference’s fourth seed, they would be matched up against a nearly identical squad in the Atlanta Hawks.

Atlanta had finished the season with the exact same record as New York (41-31). What’s more shocking is the fact that the two teams held the same home and away records as well. To top it off, they had both ended the season 7-3 in their last 10 games. It should have been a much closer series, but unfortunately Thibs and his guys couldn’t keep up.

Now with the Knicks entering the offseason, could the Chicago Bulls steal a free agent?

Going into the summer months now, the Knicks have some important players hitting free agency. Some of these guys flew under the radar, yet played some valuable minutes for New York. It will be a crucial offseason for New York after a feel-good year comes to an end.

The Bulls will have some money to work with, though, and could afford to pluck one or two free agents from New York. With a few key contracts off the books finally, it’s time for Arturas Karnisovas to get his first taste of real spending — if he so chooses.

The following three free agents helped the Knicks in big ways this season, and could be crucial parts to the Bulls going forward.
