3. Fyodor Svechkov

The Chicago Blackhawks would love to add a versatile forward with lots of skill.

The first two names on this list come in the form of centers. If they want a defenseman, it might be smart to trade up or trade down because the picks around 11 seem to all be forwards. Fyodor Svechkov is best described as a forward. He is listed as a center and a wing which makes him seem very versatile. The Blackhawks would love to add a young player like that because it would give them options.

Svechkov is a player who has good defensive abilities as well as offensive abilities. He uses his stick and body in the right position to make plays that kill the other team’s offensive chances. That is something that the Blackhawks desperately need because they are mostly a joke defensively. They have a lot of players who can create some offense but their play in their own zone left a lot to be desired last year.

He has a fair amount of offense in his game as well. He played in the VHL and MHL of Russia in 2020-21 where he was a point per game player. He also played for Russia in the World Junior Classic where he had four goals and six assists for 10 points in seven games. If the Hawks added a player with this profile, they would be very happy with the way things went at the draft.
