Chicago Blackhawks: 3 options at pick 11 in 2021 NHL Draft
2. Cole Sillinger
Cole Sillinger is another player that could help Chicago’s center depth.
Cole Sillinger is another player who had a strange year because of COVID-19. The WHL didn’t have a beginning off a season in sight so his team, the Medicine Hat Tigers, loaned him to his USHL team. He was allowed to play there because he has dual citizenship.
In 2019-20, he was doing amazing before the season was cut short as he had 22 goals and 31 assists for 53 points in 48 games. In 31 games played with the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL), he had 24 goals and 22 assists for 46 points. It was a solid season playing down in the USHL. He probably would have loved to play in the WHL but it just wasn’t happening. He felt he needed to participate in any league to be ready for the draft and it was clearly the right decision.
Now, he has a chance to be a really high draft pick. If he is there when the Chicago Blackhawks come up, they might take a look at him. He is a centerman that can make plays and help his team win hockey games. As mentioned with Kent Johnson, there is plenty of room for young centermen to try and make an impact on the organization.
