Chicago Blackhawks: 3 Minnesota Wild free agents would help
If the Chicago Blackhawks want to add a depth center for cheap, Nick Bjugstad is available.
The Chicago Blackhawks can use as much help as they can get. If someone like Nick Bjugstad is willing to sign a contract for the cheap and low term, the Hawks should consider it. He isn’t going to push them into being a playoff contender but he can bet a part of a bottom-six that needs tremendous help. He would slide in nicely as either the third or fourth line center on this team right now.
Minnesota was the third team Bjugstad has played for in his NHL career. He started off with the Florida Panthers before making it to the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier in his career and then found his way on the Wild in 2021. He has been up and down through it all but he is more than likely out to prove he can be a helping hand to a team in 2021-22.
Chicago is not going to be a good team next year but their GM seems to think they will be so Bjugstad would be a perfect addition for a team like that. He played in 44 games during the 2021 regular season where he had 6 goals and 11 assists for 17 points. In a full season that he plays well in, you can probably expect anywhere from 10-20 goals from him so he is worth the risk at this time.
The Blackhawks are going to make moves this summer. We don’t know the extent of those moves but you should probably expect a storm to hit. If it is a good storm, they might try to sign some depth pieces like these from the Wild. Hopefully, whatever route they go in sees them improve on the ice.
