Giving up picks and a player might be the way for the Chicago Blackhawks to get Seth Jones.

The Chicago Blackhawks would have an entirely different-looking defense if they added someone like Seth Jones. He would automatically be their best defenseman as a true number one guy. He has consistently gotten Norris Trophy votes in his young career so far and has the potential to get even better. That is why giving up two nice draft picks and an NHL-ready player with upside is something to consider.

The Hawks haven’t been good at drafting in the first or second round as much during the Stan Bowman era. When they do hit on guys, they trade them away for nothing. The Columbus Blue Jackets would love to add another first-round pick and a second-round pick in a deal that involves Jones. They would rather keep the player but this is a great haul for someone who doesn’t actually wanna be there anymore.

Adam Boqvist might have a lot of upsides but he isn’t ever going to reach his full potential with the Hawks. He seems like a player that may never reach it at all anyway. It was a terrible pick by the Hawks in the 2018 NHL Draft so shipping him off in a Seth Jones trade would almost make up for it. A lot of people like him for some reason but he isn’t ever helping the Hawks win titles.
