Chicago Blackhawks: 3 Nashville Predators free agents to snatch
The Chicago Blackhawks have had plenty of encounters with Mikael Granlund.
Mikael Granlund has had a very nice career so far. He was drafted 9th overall out of Finland by the Minnesota Wild in the 2010 NHL Draft. He went on to spend parts of seven years with them. He was traded to the Nashville Predators during the 2018-19 season and has played there ever since. Now, his contract is up again and he might be looking for a new place to play.
Between his stints with the Wild and Predators, Granlund has played against the Blackhawks a lot. He is someone that they should consider when the free agency window is open. He is going to be entering his age-29 season so you know he has some great hockey left in his prime. The Hawks would love to add a forward like Granlund that can play both center and wing.
In 2020, he had 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points in 51 games which is a really nice total. Tha also came on a Predators team that isn’t known for its offense. The system they play there under coach John Hynes doesn’t help offensive players very much and he still managed to have pretty good numbers. If this is the type of move the Hawks want to make this offseason, Granlund would be a perfect option.
