The Chicago Cubs might be smart to try and get one good prospect for Craig Kimbrel.

The Chicago Cubs are an up and down team this year but the future seems to be the priority right now. Craig Kimbrel isn’t going to help them in the future which is why they should sell him while he is hot. Until 2021, he had never played well with the Chicago Cubs. If they can land a top-ten organizational prospect from someone, they would be big winners in that deal. The Toronto Blue Jays might be in the mix for something like that.

The Blue Jays have it tough right now. Their pitching isn’t great but their starting lineup is awesome when they are healthy. They are in a tough spot right now because their division is elite. They have to fight with the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Tampa Bay Rays for a spot near the top of the division. As of right now, they look like the odd one out there. If they added a closer like Kimbrel, however, they might have a chance.

Orelvis Martinez is a shortstop prospect that currently ranks number six in Toronto’s organization. We know that Bo Bichette is seen as their shortstop of the future so there might not be room for Martinez any time soon. We don’t know the future of Javier Baez on the Cubs so this could be a candidate to replace him if a trade like that was made.
