Free agent point guards to compete with Chicago Bulls starter Coby White: T.J. McConnell

Like Graham, another underrated point guard the Bulls could look at is T.J. McConnell, who spent the past two seasons with the Indiana Pacers. McConnell spent the first four years of his NBA career with the Philadelphia 76ers, being an integral part of their rotation.

When looking at where White lacks, you see a lot to like in McConnell who has always been a strong facilitator. McConnell isn’t going to light up the box score, but he does a little bit of everything and plays better defense than he sometimes gets credit for.

This last year, McConnell only started three games for the Pacers, yet finished with career highs in both points (8.6) and assists (6.6). That’s a pretty impressive assist average, considering he was a reserve guard. McConnell also put up a career-best 1.9 steals per game.

The Bulls have a similar player in Tomas Satoransky, but he can play positions one through three if need be. McConnell is strictly a guard and is comfortable there. Chicago would have a fairly competitive battle between White and McConnell for the starting gig, should they opt to sign him this summer.
