Chicago Blackhawks: 3 Edmonton Oilers free agents to consider
Having some structure on defense is something the Chicago Blackhawks need.
The Chicago Blackhawks were amongst the league leaders in high danger chances against on a nightly basis. They weren’t good at all when it came to keeping the other team from dominating them in their own end. They had some players who could help them score goals but nothing on defense to brag about. Someone like Adam Larsson would be able to help out with that.
Adam Larsson has had a very interesting career. He was the fourth overall pick by the New Jersey Devils in the 2011 NHL Draft. He was later a part of a blockbuster trade but one that created controversy for the Edmonton Oilers. He was traded in a one-for-one deal for Taylor Hall. Larsson is a good player but Taylor Hall is a superstar. He went on to win the Hart Trophy in New Jersey which made the trade look even worse.
With that said, Larsson can help a team in many ways. He doesn’t contribute much offense although he will make a play every now and again. He does kill penalties and remains in a good position when he is defending in his own end. If the Hawks added a guy like this, they would be adding someone who can help out the goalies.
