Valuable offensive free agents the Chicago Bears can still sign: Pharoh Cooper

The Bears have added a lot of talent within their wide receiving room this offseason. Between free agents Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd, plus rookie Dazz Newsome, the Bears are going to be pretty deep there in 2021.

Although they’ll have a lot of competition at wide receiver, one area they could afford to add another body is on kick and punt return duties. Even though Pharoh Cooper plays wide receiver, his best plays come when he’s fielding.

Cooper is a former Pro Bowler doing just that, and with Tarik Cohen coming back from injury, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to sign some insurance just in case. Plus, Cohen should be given more focus on the offensive side of the ball.

On kick returns, the Bears may end up using rookie running back Khalil Herbert. Placing Cooper back there as well with Herbert could give the Bears a lethal tandem returning kicks, if need be.

The 2017 All Pro remains unsigned, but wherever he does end up, he’ll likely walk right into a starting return spot.
