Valuable offensive free agents the Chicago Bears can still sign: Tyler Eifert

One of the latest rumors has the Bears still potentially moving on from tight end Jimmy Graham, but position coach Clancy Barone squashed that a couple of weeks ago saying there was “no doubt” he’d be back this year.

If Chicago wanted to round out there tight end room with another pass-catcher, veteran Tyler Eifert is still out there. Eifert spent the first seven years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals and broke out back in 2015. That season, Eifert caught 52 passes for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Since that season, though, Eifert hasn’t put up similar production. In fact, in the next three seasons combined, he played in just 14 games due to nagging injuries. Fortunately, the past two seasons, Eifert has appeared in 31 of 32 games. Seemingly putting the injuries behind him, Eifert still has value.

Eifert is still one of the better red zone threats at the position when on the field, but over the past two seasons, he has endured pretty poor quarterback play. If he came to Chicago as their third tight end, and caught passes from Fields, he’d provide the team some value without a doubt.
