Veterans unlikely to make the Chicago Bears roster: Riley Ridley

Going back to that pool of talent the Bears have at wide receiver, former fourth-round pick Riley Ridley could be another odd man out. This kid is a bit of a mystery, quite honestly. Coming out of Georgia back in 2019, Ridley was looked at as one of the best route runners in his draft class.

Bears fans were pretty excited to land a kid with that type of title in the fourth round. Yet, as a rookie, he didn’t catch on too quickly.

Receiver coach Mike Furrey offered some insight as to why Ridley didn’t see much action as a rookie, saying that the transition to the NFL was tough for him. Furrey also added that there was an issue with learning the playbook.

Now, Ridley is in an even tougher spot to try and make this roster. He very well could end up on the practice squad, or another team, in the end. Chicago has added too much talent here, and Ridley’s time is running out to adjust to the pro game.

If he doesn’t provide a big spark during training camp, Ridley’s tenure with the Bears might just come to an end after two years — which would look like a huge waste of a fourth-round pick for Pace.
