Logical defensive free agents for the Chicago Bears: S Tre Boston

Another former Panther is still on the market and presents one of the most underrated defensive backs of the last few years. Both Tre Boston, along with his aforementioned teammate, were both released for financial reasons this year. For some reason though, Boston has gone unsigned later in the offseason over the past couple of years and continues to play good football.

He’s played for three teams in the last four years, yet has provided those three teams with above average play at the safety position. In the past four seasons, Boston has totaled 32 passes defensed, 12 interceptions, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and even a handful of quarterback hits.

Boston is more than capable of starting for a team this coming season, so if he came to the Bears, he very well could compete with Gipson for the spot next to Jackson. But, Boston is too good to still be out there looking for a job.

Like Vaccaro, Boston would give the Bears some real strength and depth at the safety position. It’s almost like the league has forgotten about Boston every year for the past two seasons, but he’s still only 28.
