The Chicago Blackhawks could get a decent return in a trade for Calvin de Haan.

The Chicago Blackhawks have seen Calvin de Haan be a pretty good defenseman for them. He was never a superstar or anything like that but he is just always solid. Unfortunately, his role was too much on this team which is why their defense wasn’t ever very good while he was there. He shouldn’t be in the race for a team’s best defenseman. If he is your number three, four, or even five defensemen, then there is a good chance that it is a championship-level core.

If the Hawks traded de Haan to the Boston Bruins, he would fit in perfectly. They have studs on the blue line like Charlie McAvoy, Brandon Carlo, and Matt Grzelyck amongst others so Calvin de Haan would fit right in. He would probably be the number four behind those guys which would make him look like a stud.

We don’t know what the Bruins are going to do in this year’s playoffs but they are a legit Stanley Cup contender. That comes even after losing Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug to free agency during the offseason. Giving the Blackhawks a 2021 third and a 2022 second for de Haan would be wise on their part. They already have a really nice defense and this is a good way to make it even better. It would also get something for de Haan instead of losing him to Seattle for nothing.
