Justin Fields is studying the Chicago Bears offense intensely

"“Eventually I’ll know it (the offense) like the back of my hand.”"

Fields is taking things one day at a time, but he’s confident he’ll know the offense quickly. That’s music to fans’ ears, too, as the previous young quarterback wasn’t too fond of opening up the playbook — or more specifically, Mitchell Trubisky required Nagy to scale back the playbook multiple times.

Learning the offense is one thing, but being able to execute it is another. There were unofficial sources who caught wind of some audio during Bears practice over the weekend, and one particular clip heard Fields getting after a teammate, urging them to “run it again” because of a mistake that was made.

If Fields is already calling out mistakes by his teammates and he’s just three days into practicing, that not only shows leadership and maturity, but also that he’s retaining plenty of knowledge already.

This is not a rookie quarterback Nagy will have to scale anything back for. Of course, Fields has the passing intangibles to go along with his mobility, so the entire playbook should be fair game for he and his head coach.
