Chicago Bears: Players fighting for their future at rookie minicamp
By Ryan Heckman
Chicago Bears rookies fighting for their future: CB Thomas Graham Jr.
You might initially wonder why Thomas Graham Jr. is on this list, and it’s not because he won’t make the roster. Graham makes the list for one reason and one reason only: to put the coaching staff on notice.
Graham could be the Bears’ next starting slot corner, and rookie minicamp is where his first impression will be made. If Graham comes out and impresses in his first time on the field, new defensive coordinator Sean Desai will all of the sudden have a true competition between he and Duke Shelley.
In fact, it won’t be too difficult for Graham to beat Shelley in that competition. But, it’s imperative he gets off to a good start. This could be the first step towards not only making the final roster, but becoming a starter as a rookie sixth rounder.
This is also assuming the Bears try him in the slot, because Graham can play both inside and outside. He’s a very versatile, physical corner. If he shines in rookie minicamp, look out for Graham to become a quick favorite as the next starting slot corner for the Bears.
