Chicago Bears: 5 free agent corners to sign for depth
By Ryan Heckman
Free agent cornerbacks the Chicago Bears could still add: Cre’Von LeBlanc
One of the more intriguing guys still available is someone Bears fans and teammates would be familiar with. Former Bears cornerback Cre’Von LeBlanc has yet to sign with a team and could make some sense for a few reasons.
First, he does have the ability to line up in the slot. Again, as we’ve already established here, the Bears desperately need to solidify that position and LeBlanc could be their guy.
Second, LeBlanc spent his first two seasons in the NFL with the Bears back in 2016 and 2017. So, he knows a few of the guys on defense already. More importantly, LeBlanc knows new defensive coordinator Sean Desai.
The familiarity there would be valuable for LeBlanc, Desai and the defense altogether. LeBlanc would come very cheap, too. He might even sign on a veteran minimum deal.
The Bears know LeBlanc is a scrappy, physical player as well. He’s a fun guy to have in the locker room and an excellent teammate. To have him come back and play in Chicago again would not only meet a need, but likely be a boost for some of his old teammates and friends in the locker room.
