Free agent cornerbacks the Chicago Bears could still add: Bashaud Breeland

For some reason, veteran cornerback Bashaud Breeland has ended up signing later than anticipated in his last few seasons. Somehow, he’s still available and is going to be a huge addition to whichever team winds up with him.

Over the years, Breeland has been an excellent slot cornerback and has also been able to play outside if need be. No matter where he’s played, Breeland has always produced. Somehow, he ends up being a guy who makes those big, game-changing plays at times.

Yet, Breeland is still without a team right now. Many would venture to guess that the Kansas City Chiefs work out a deal to bring him back sooner or later, but for now, he’s free to sign anywhere. Breeland won the Super Bowl back during the 2019 season with the Chiefs.

Whether you are looking at opposing quarterback rating allowed, completion percentage allowed or yards per coverage snap, Breeland has always finished amongst the best. He’s done it with the Washington Redskins, for a few games with the Green Bay Packers, and most recently with the Kansas City Chiefs.

It’s always mind-boggling to see Breeland available to sign. He shouldn’t be a free agent, but he is. If Ryan Pace wanted to bring in a starting slot corner right now, Breeland could be the guy.
