The Chicago Cubs landing something for Jake Arrieta would be a win this season.

Jake Arrieta is one of the most important players in the history of the franchise. When he brought his winning attitude to the team, it felt like he was going to help them do something special. He then went out and put together a Cy Young season a year before being one of their two aces en route to a World Series. He didn’t have one of those all-time great careers over a span of a decade but for a two or three-year stretch, he was one of the best in the world.

He walked in free agency when the Cubs decided to bring in Yu Darvish as a free agent. Then they brought him back in free agency after they traded Darvish to the San Diego Padres. Darvish is the better pitcher but Arrieta matches what the team was going for this season. They knew that they weren’t going to be very good but Arrieta can provide some quality innings.

While he is pitching relatively well, they should try and trade him. He isn’t on track to be a Cy Young winner or anything like that but he might add some depth to a really good team looking to make a run. If an elite team needs a fourth or fifth starter really badly, they might be willing to take a risk on someone like Arrieta. He has been a good Chicago Cubs in two different stints but doing what is best for the franchise is most important.

Bryant has been in rumors for a couple of years now but nothing new has come up about any of these three guys. However, they would all return a decent amount thanks to them playing well to start the season. The Cubs should sell high on anyone that they can.
