Chicago Cubs: 3 players to sell high on before June hits
The Chicago Cubs would love to get anything for Craig Kimbrel in a trade.
Throughout his career with the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox, Craig Kimbrel became one of the greatest closers in the history of Major League Baseball. There was a point in his career where he was so dominant that his arrival on the mound meant that the game was over. He has been a seven-time all-star, a World Series champion, and a winner of many different reliever awards. Until 2021, however, his tenure with the Chicago Cubs has been a disaster.
He signed with them well into the 2019 season and was really never good. That is why his dominant start to 2021 has been really impressive. We know he is a wildly talented pitcher and he has finally brought some of that magic with him to the Cubs. He has a very nice 0.69 ERA, 0.846 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts over 13.0 innings pitched and five saves.
That level of production would be welcomed on a lot of teams that have a chance at a World Series this year. The Cubs don’t have that so they could take anything they can get for him. Last season, they would have traded him for literally anything but nobody would want him. Now is as good of a time as any to sell high on a player that they once couldn’t sell at all. Someone would pay a nice price for a closer who is pitching the ball like this right now.
